Anyone who knows of any TV video or radio soundbytes of Blair kidnap plot - F4J disbanding, please post.
F4J suspending work.. due to Blair kidnap attempt...
Of the several news reports of the Blair kidnap plot and possible extremists within F4J UK using that to smear F4J UK, the BBC and Reuters seemed the more balanced and least sensationalized. USA Today and The Sun seemed overly sensationalized. Matt Connor's statement, found here and at the F4J UK site does mention The Sun, though, so I guess allegations of extremist infiltration will need addressing. F4J UK suspending it's campaign for equal custody is unfortunate and it is a sad day all around.

So far, nothing to report on US TV. Nothing on local or NBC, 11 PM. Jay Leno cracked a joke on the kidnapping plot on his show He said he'd show a picture of the kidnapping suspect. He showed a picture of Michael Jackson. If he'd shown a picture of a superhero or mentioned F4J, I'd been upset.
Actually, many days I think as far as men's issues are concerned, my local TV stations check MND to see what they think is "hot." _________________ "We grow too soon old and too late smart..." quoted by Michael Savage... By: Simon Israel
The fathers' rights group linked to an alleged plot to kidnap Tony's Blair's youngest son Leo has told Channel 4 News it will disband in the wake of the furore over the affair.
>>Watch the Matt O'Connor interview
Fathers 4 Justice had earlier said the group was suspending its activities pending an inquiry into the allegations, reported in Sun newspaper.
The group's leader Matt O'Connor told the programme it can no longer continue in light of the negative publicity generated by the allegations.
>>Watch the report
He said: "I regret to say that three years after starting the organisation we're going to cease and bring it to a close."
It was claimed that extremist sympathisers with the group had discussed kidnapping five-year-old Leo Blair.

Holy movie deal!! More breaking news than the mind can comprehend!

| Quote: | Holy smoke! The Fathers 4 Justice film
By John Higginson, Metro
20 January 2006
Hollywood is to tell the story of the caped crusaders - not Batman and Robin this time, but Fathers 4 Justice.
After two years of fighting between film companies, Disney-owned Miramax has bought the rights to turn the campaign group's story into a blockbuster.
It will be a Full Monty-style tragi-comic take on the story of Matt O'Connor, 38, who founded the group to campaign for the rights of divorced fathers.
Produced by Harbour Pictures, the team behind Calendar Girls, it will follow Mr O'Connor's battle for the custody of his children after splitting from his ex-partner.
Along the way, it will take in high-profile stunts, such as the flour bombing of Tony Blair in the House of Commons and the scaling of such landmarks as Buckingham Palace in superhero costumes.
The movie will also tell how Fathers 4 Justice was hijacked by an extremist element, infiltrated by undercover police SO19 specialist firearms branch and exposed by a journalist masquerading as a group member.
The story ends with the group's demise - Fathers 4 Justice split this week after news of an alleged plot by a splinter group to kidnap Mr Blair's youngest son Leo.
Mr O'Connor, who is now looking after his four-week-old baby, said: 'I want people to be able to see what has been going on behind the tabloid headlines with police chasing us and how hard it has been to hold it all together some times.
'There will be tragedy but it is going to be very funny.'
A cast has yet to be chosen but Mr O'Connor joked that his role would be best played by 'Shrek or Johnny Vegas'.
The father-of-three is now working on his autobiography.

Meanwhile... Someone was kind enough to translate the F4J-NL page for me...
| Quote: | "Dutch F4J postpones operations
The Dutch part of F4J announces today that it will cancel its current
activities and any plans for direct actions will be postponed / frozen.
Despite the fact that the Dutch part of F4J is stable at the long-term, the
national coordinator decided to create a stop to get hold of the current
situation.
The damaging plot accusations to kidnap Tony Blair?s son, has shocked us
deeply. Such headlines contradict everything we stand for. F4J conducts
campaigns to re-unite children with their parents ? not to separate them. We
disgust everything that has to do with the kidnapping and we would never
have approved such a thing.
One aspect of concern is a minority of persons that are not related anymore
to F4J, but abuse the name and imitate the style and topics of F4J. F4J has
learned (this) from at least one Dutch TV-programme which soon will be
broadcasted where many persons are present which have been disbanded from
the organisation. They portray themselves in the style of F4J.
It is irresponsible and can only harm more instead of doing anything good.
A minority of imitators endanger the whole campaign and also (our) children
will suffer from this. The F4J campaign is too valuable to be put in danger
again by people out of or control / reach.
As a consequence the Dutch part of F4J has decided to postpone all actions
to prevent further damaging accusations to the campaign."
| I would be upset to learn that F4J disbanded worldwide and F4J-UK declared its' several years of work a failure so that Matt could make a movie and book deal. Was the rest of the F4J organization in on this with Matt?? Maybe F4J-UK figures it can get more mileage in a movie deal than by just plodding along in the day-to-day. |

The movie/book deal shouldn't surprise people. Often, you'll see agents of celebrities (or wannbees) "planting a 'crisis" on the eve of a new film or book - or even as a "comeback signal" after an absence from the public eye. Hopefully the rest of his organization was aware and will recoup.
F4J is the group that dressed up and scaled the Palace and threw flour at PM Tony Blair, isn't it. Methinks they're overdue for a change in tactics. They should consider this an opportunity. _________________ Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, pending pilfering prosecution... |

Here's another development...
Men in tights: movie debut for Fathers 4 Justice
The group's founder, Matt O'Connor, has sold rights to his organisation's story to Harbour Pictures, the British firm that made Calendar Girls.
