Hi folks,
I'm Mike and one of the presenters of the Dads On The Air (DOTA), which is broadcast in Sydney, Australia. The shows been running for 5 years, we also have a website www.dadsontheair.com the most successful website linked to a community radio show in Australia.

There are two other presenters, John and Uncle Buck (aka Rick). Also my partner, Trish (X-Files on the website) presents when she can, she also assists in preparing material. John and Uncle Buck are the stalwarts, I and Trish are the relative newbies.

The shows airs on Monday Mornings for around 1 hour as part of the three hour stint we do called the Monday Morning Variety Show. John is a journalist, Uncle Buck is an ex cop, me well I work in IT and am what, in Australia, they call a Pom (English).

Th DOTA segment usually consists of a few guests, generally phoning in. The shows are put up on the website.

Hi Admin (Terry I assume),
I found you, well, in a little bit of a convuluted way, somone posted an article from www.standyourground.com I went there and joined up and introduced myself, much like on here, as one of the hosts of DOTA. Sir Percy then sent me a message telling me about this site and here I am.

Thanks for the compliment regarding the archives. The main problem we have with the sound archives is getting the shows up in a timely manner At this moment, we have three shows waiting to go up. Glen is a busy person and it obviously takes some time to get the shows up. I myself, record the shows. Glen used to before I came along. I do this on a laptop, plugged into one of the studio mikes, using CoolEdit, (I also have a powerpoint presentation running for news articles) I also have a little itty bitty FM radio in the spare studio with a Sony MiniDisk linked to it. This latter recording being the backup, mainly because you appear to only be able to get the recoding onto a PC, from the MD, by playing it in real time. As you see, I'm no sound engineer and any tips/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

For any who go to www.dadsontheair.com the forums are arranged a little diferent than most, a new forum is added for each show that is put up. We are also very fortunate in that Glen the owner of www.zanyspace.com, who hosts our forum, does it free of charge, well he gets a little revenue from the on-site advertising. We have no funding, even though many wrongly accuse us of being funded, even of making our fortunes through the show.

Best Wishes and thanks, Mike.

That's great information... Send me some more of your fans... Have you had a chance to listen to any of the Glenn Sacks Shows? He's your US counterpart. He's been working on some other projects since August, but his archived shows load very quickly.

And thankyou you talkradiofan, that's great to get a mention.

For any who visit the DOTA site and have noticed a lack of shows, well that's primarily because it's been school holidays and us being fathers with limited access, get access. Shows should now happen most weeks.

P.S. if anyone has ideas for guests then please let me know.

Welcome back. Hope you had a good visit with your kids...

If you ever need an interim site to upload soundbytes while waiting for your webmaster to update, there's an exhaustive list of hosting services here.. http://fantalkback2talkhosts.myfreeforum.org/ftopic7.php For sound, I'd recommend Putfile or Rapidshare...

As for guests, maybe put an appeal on one or more of the men's boards SYG, MND, Mathews Antifeminism. If this is a remote phone interview are there any special phone requirements? Teri Stoddard may be a good counter-person to counter the Kright's F4J soundbytes or interview in general. She knows some of the F4J-UK folks.

Ok Terry,
I've had a little play with both Rapidshare and Putfile. The latter doesn't appear to like stuff that I put up. Anyway here's the latest show from Mid January (23/1/2006) The subject being What 2006 has in store, with two guests Geoffrey Greene (former president of the Shared Parenting Council of Australia) and Wayne Butler of the Shared Parenting Council of Australia.

Suggestion: Copy and paste this link into another window versus clicking.. Rapidshare sometimes works better that way for some reason... Particularly if you d/l more than 1 thing from them/day. Rapidshare imposes a 1 hour waiting period between d/l for "free" users anyway. - Terry http://rapidshare.de/files/122865...TA20060123-NoMusic-Small.wma.html

Hi All

I am Mike's Partner 'X'Files, who helps present the show and actually spouts a word here and there.

I was actually very ignorant about how the Family Law System treats the blokes differently prior to becoming a mouthpiece on the show, and it has horrified me. The more I become erudite in the Family Law System, the more I realise the impact Feminism has had on the gender gap. I am pro-equality, have always been, but in no way am I a fan of contemporary feminism.

Glad to be here

Smiles
Trish

Welcome, Trish. Thanks for joining. If you have trouble staying logged in, it's a bug related to certain ISP browsers (typically AOL). Raising an additional independant browser like the Windows IE or Firefox can help. You might enjoy Teri Stoddard's blog, http://mensnewsdaily.com/blog/feminist4fathers/
