On 8-1-06, Howard discussed how to handle requests to replay 9-11-01 tapes for Sept. 2006. Apparently, it is among the most requested classic shows.
What did you think of that discussion? The second poll option is aka 9-11-02 Tribute, Part 2. That already is the tight discussion Tim and Howard seem to want. Howard may have to work less hard than he thinks.
I'm not sure what the show was doing before 8:45am EDT, I've heard Pam Anderson mentioned - who cares about what she was doing in 2001. I think the 9-11-02, pt.2 would be good - preceded by whatever commentary Howard wants to make for 2006. I'd recommend Howard not engage in Bush bashing though. Brent and Basic Training did Memorial day right when they kept that show non-political. Maybe ask Brent and his friends for a couple of servicemen to have call-in. Maybe see if there are a couple of 911 firemen or policemen who will call-in.
Make 2006 about moving on and unity. Maybe have lots of call-ins from people about how they feel about 911 today. Maybe George Takei could call-in that day.
The 9-11-02 Tribute, Part 2 - a replay from 8:45am, 9-11-01, through the collapsing buildings would make a good Noon 'special,' but might be long. It should be played at some point during the day, though.
Maybe Howard100 News should do a 911 special. Maybe live H100 News coverage of whatever memorial service is happening in NYC. Keep it straight, no goofing. _________________ Always remember, "Hi, I'm Sal Governale..."
Maybe have 1 or two (early) power call-in interviews from people who are in a position of influence or had some role in the disaster management, followed by fan calls, and last by the 9-11-02, Pt.2 Tribute. Could Howard get a call through to Rudy Guilliani? Would G. G. Liddy accept a 9-11 call from Howard? Sean Hannity? Maybe Howard could loosen his grip and let them use their respective phone calls in their shows.
The soundbytes of what was said on the 8/01/06 show are better than what MarksFriggin's 8/1/06 review made it sound like.

I like G-man Fan's suggestion.. and refrain from Bush bashing that day.
Some combination of the suggestions above sounds great - even though I'm not a Stern fan and will probably wind up hearing about the 9-11 show second-hand from relatives or acquaintences who are.
A salute to 'first responders' and volunteers of that day...
Sympathy and a prayer for healing for those who lost loved ones...
Commentary and calls appropriate for 2006; then Howard should play the segment from when the attacks start until the collapse of the buildings like he did in 2002. The H100 News should do the special based on their coverage of a NYC memorial event. If the News is at a different time than Noon, so what. Play with the schedule some. Try for at least 1 "power call" as suggested above. Put Bubba and/or Brent on the call list too.
Good poll!! Stays right with Howard's discussion points. I need to think on other comments. There are some good ones. _________________ "We grow too soon old and too late smart..." quoted by Michael Savage... God Bless America CAN be a sincere prayer... On the noon news, they mentioned a study where people who'd breathed a lot of the 9-11 dust may have aged 12 years faster than others (breathing capacity, etc.).
I'd always figured Howard didn't like playing the 9-11 show because it showed him saying a lot of the things that he's been critical of GWB for doing. The soundbytes of the 8/11/06 discussion actually do sound better than MarksFriggin's recap. Hopefully, Howard is coming around on doing the 9-11 show this year.
Variation on #4: Do a 2006 show dedicated to 9-11 with clips, calls, and commentary - then let the H100 News cover one of the NYC memorial events and do a special later in the day.
Well I see it's not very popular here but I say play the whole show from beginning to end... I didn't hear it live as it happened that day but got to listen to the whole show about 2 years later and it was very impactful.
Maybe Howard and Co. can do a special "Wrap Up" with their commentary afterwards, take calls. _________________

# Various Stuff. 9/11/01. 6:05am
Comedian Vinnie Penn was sitting in this morning. Howard spent a short time talking about an article he read in the paper this morning about a family that's suing a hospital because they didn't have an MRI machine that their 550 pound daughter would fit into. She apparently died because they couldn't find out what was wrong with her soon enough because of that. Howard is amazed that people can sue over such ridiculous things in our society. Howard later found out that there actually are MRI machines that they can put obese people in.
West coast reporter Gary Garver called in to talk about his experience at the Hall of Fame Awards Dinner that he went to. He got an interview with David Hasselhoff but it didn't go over too well. He said Hasselhoff wasn't happy that he was asking dopey questions at a dinner for Multiple Sclerosis. Then Gary got the same talk from Adam Sandler. Sandler ended up having Gary thrown out of the event so he wasn't able to question anyone else.
Gary's phone connection really sucked and Howard goofed on him about that for a minute before giving up on the whole conversation. Gary didn't have much else to talk about anyway.
Howard played some voice mails from people who wanted to talk about the whole Hank the Dwarf death tribute. Crazy Alice called in and cried as she left one message. In a second message she complained about the way High Pitch Erik was using Hank to get air time when he was hanging out at the Hank Memorial out on the street. She ended up calling him names and cursed him out about it in the voice mail. Other callers were upset about Howard using Hank's death as material on the show.
One of the wacky calls that Howard got was from this guy Anthony Zipper who brought in his stuffed daughter Calistra last Halloween. He thinks that Hank should be stuffed and kept above ground.
High Pitch Erik called in to defend himself against Crazy Alice about what was said about him. Howard kind of defended what Erik did but didn't keep him on the phone for more than 30 seconds.
Howard said that a lot of people have been sending in song parodies to the tune of Afroman's ''Because I Got High.'' Howard played one that he got about KC called ''Because I'm A Gay Guy'' that was pretty funny.
Some guy from MediaAttack.com called in and told a lame story about going to the Michael Jackson tribute concert the other night. He somehow ended up sitting next to Michael's family and he made some comments to them not knowing that they were his family. His story wasn't all that interesting but Howard let him plug his web site anyway. He said he was on the show a couple of years ago with a phony phone call he'd made to Larry King.
Angry Black got his first DJ stint on Howard's radio station over the weekend. Howard played tape of some of Angry Black's breaks and he didn't sound any worse than any other DJ on their station. Howard said that it proves that anyone can be a DJ.
# Hiccup Guy Seth Dowel Calls In. 9/11/01. 7:45am
Howard had this guy Seth call in who has had hiccups for the past year. He's worked it into a semi-celebrity thing. He's gotten on a few TV shows and stuff. He wasn't hiccuping on the phone but he tried to get them to start up for Howard. Seth said that doctors had him on a bunch of sedatives and stuff to get them to stop but they weren't working. He stopped them last week and now he only gets hiccups 2 or 3 times a day for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. Howard tried to make an interesting interview out of it but it just wasn't happening. Howard spent a very short time asking the guy questions about his hiccups but he was very low key and he wasn't hiccuping so it was kind of dull. Howard plugged his web site and said that maybe it was a bad idea to have him on. You can check out his web site at HiccupGuy.com
# Marie Masa's Revenge. 9/11/01. 7:55am
A few months ago this woman Marie Masa came on the show and said she wanted to find Howard his ''soul mate.'' Howard says that now she's out doing articles bad mouthing him instead of coming back on his show to talk about how tough it was to find women for him. Howard read an article from the Orlando Sentinel where Masa complains about how tough it was to find 5 women who are willing to date Howard. As Howard read the article he theorized that maybe it's not so tough to find dates for him, maybe she's just not good at finding women. He hasn't had any trouble finding his own dates so it must be her.
Howard said one woman they profiled in the paper was pretty hot. Some of the other women didn't match the requirements that Howard gave Marie to follow. ONe woman was 45 years old and said she has plans for Howard to ''pray'' for himself. Howard said he didn't get divorced to date a 45 year old woman. Howard read through the other women and none of them seemed to be appealing to him.
Howard and Robin both pointed out that Marie is going about this all wrong because she's bad mouthing a client saying that he's ugly and it's hard to find him a date. Robin asked why any average person would want to go to this woman if she can't even find a celebrity a date.
Gary tried to get Marie on the phone but her answering machine was on. Later in the show one of the women in the article that Howard read called in. Sheeba Winston, the ''hot black chick'', called in to tell Howard that she's a fan of Howard's and that she was looking forward to meeting him. She's a model and she's appeared in quite a few magazines. Howard spent a few minutes with her asking about her age and her breast size among other things. Stuttering John was in helping out with some of the questions. He asked her if she's into anal sex, she's not. Howard asked her if she thinks OJ Simpson is innocent or guilty. She wasn't so sure about that one. She wants to think he's innocent but he sure looks guilty to her. Howard said he'd have to straighten her out about some of those things. Sheeba managed to get a plug in for her web site SheebaWinston.com before Howard had to take a break.
# Hank The Dwarf E! True Hollywood Story Coming Soon? 9/11/01. 8:10am
Howard said that after Hank died he thought it would be great if E! did one of their ''E! True Hollywood Story'' shows about him. John Reiber, Senior Vice President of Programming at E!, was in the city to meet with Howard about something so Howard had him come in. Howard spent a few minutes talking to John about working at E! and how he used to think that John was gay because he's kind of effeminate. John says he's not gay though.
John says that they are planning to do an E! True Hollywood Story about Hank because he really did have a lot of friends in the industry. He did appear in a few TV shows and movies so he was a ''Hollywood'' celebrity. John said the people at Troma pictures have some behind the scenes stuff from a new ''Toxic Avenger'' movie that's coming out this fall. They are willing to give E! the rights to air the scenes if they do the ''True Hollywood Story.'' John told Howard that he'll have to do the show also. Howard then planned out how he's going to have to make himself cry for the show. John told Howard they'll talk to everyone who wants to talk about Hank.
As John was getting ready to leave he told Howard that he was hitchhiking one time and the guy who picked him up made a pass at him. He said the guy reached his arm over toward his crotch but he was able to hit the guy and get out of the car before anything else happened. John seemed to be trying to convince Howard that he's not gay by telling that story.
# World Trade Center Coverage. 9/11/01. 8:45am
Howard replayed a short interview he played the other day that Stuttering John did with Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson. After playing the clip Howard and the crew were talking about how hot Pam is and about some of the sexual experiences they've had throughout their lives. Howard had just told a story about a ''friend'' of his who rubbed one out while his date slept and he ended up leaving a mess on her ass. Howard's buddy Ralph then called in laughing like he'd heard the story before. He said he was the one who told Howard the story, that's why he was laughing. Anyway, Ralph called in to tell Howard that he could have gotten Pam the last time they hung out together. Ralph thinks Howard was just dumb and he should have just gone for it and banged her....
I think the on-air time replaying all of that could be better used taking callers - maybe even a couple of "high-profile" callers. I don't see a thing in that narrative that I'd need to hear again. Howard should play a significant part of the 9-11 clippage after the attack starts though, he got out of it with 2 years falling on the weekend. Maybe next year fade to clips mixed with commentary.
Yeah, I'm kind of with TG... Ditch the early gossip part of the old 9-11 show and take callers and do commentary. Then run some clippage from the 9-11 show after the attacks start - either straight through - or mixed with commentary.
People who want to hear the whole show from 9-11-01 can get it on the web.
