Question from 1/6/07 MTT (replay 8/8/89) Danny Philbin, 2002
I am not in NYC and did not have The Stern Show before 2002. Actually, I did not start listening until late 2003. I would like for the Wrap-Up Show or H100 News to explain the Danny Philbin Telethon that was discussed in the MTT 8/8/1989 that was replayed on 1/6/07. I looked up Danny Philbin on the internet and it would seem that he is quite successful now. But why was Howard Stern 'raising money' for him in 1989 and what was the Philbin family's reaction to that at the time?? That might be an interesting bit of history to explain to the fans. Depending on what the story is - and if Daniel Philbin (or some associated charity) ever benefited, it might also be interesting for H100 News to see what Regis or Daniel Philbin might say now that some years have passed.

Howard mentioned that they were raising money for Regis Philbin's son on yesterday's show. Jackie told him that they had raised $4,750 yesterday alone. That didn't include the corporate sponsors either. Howard talked about how much money the Jerry Lewis telethon raises every year. |

Picture of Gary on the street with a sandwich board asking for donations for Danny and pics from the National Enquirer article in "Private Parts" the book. | I wish someone would post a picture... How did Howard and Daniel Philbin come into contact?

Dan Philbin reportedly plays chess. Maybe he and Howard will meet again at an online chess site - now that Howard is learning chess. Wonder how accessible Dan is, given his most recent employment?
