Stern Fan SitesI listen to Stern most days, albeit belatedly... The confines (TOS) of this free forum site prevent linking to "pornography" or "pirated work." Google "Howard Stern" for more sites. Also Google "SternFanNetwork.com," (aka SFN - probably the best of the Stern fan sites). If you're looking for files, you'll be better served joining SFN and doing diligence for 30 days to get access to full member areas.
While most hard-core content gets removed to the Adult section or deleted quickly.. SFN has been known to be lax about avatars... Also there are the ads. An admin at Hannity commented that one is never more than a couple of clicks from something that will offend someone, no matter what. The best protections for youth are parental supervision, values taught at home, and possibly software (for younger children). This forum recognizes that some fan needs will only be met in a dedicated forum...

SFN members mostly post short clips, as that is as much slack as Viacom gives (ignores). Sites trying to host permanent full show archives tend to get shut down as soon as Stern staffers or Viacom locates them. There are some people who record the show for themselves. Best advice is to spend your first 30 days at SFN making friends and building trust.
If you just want to keep up with what's going on via a good text description, try Marksfriggin.com news (Daily Show) page. He's been archiving text descriptions of the show for years. While they're not actual transcripts, if you've ever listened to the show, Mark's descriptions are close enough to think you are there. These days, when there's a lot of repetition, you can scan the review and see what sections you'd really like to ask around for (assuming you're not in an area you can actually listen).
In January, Stern will be on Sirius and all in the US who can afford it will have equal opportunity to listen.

Maybe I was a little rude, but I hate it when they lie and claim that they are really getting emails. Hell, the prank isn't that advanced. not yet at least. maybe next year.  We lose a ton of people from the you code. They leave all pissed off and even if I get the chance to explain it to them, they are often still mad. I've left it run, because it's fun for the rest of us. You've already gone through it and it weeds out the people with no sense of humor. If you can't laugh at yourself, you should be here anyway.

I know the restrictions we put on the jr members are rough. If I was at some site with these rules I'd be pissed, but if the site is good enough it's worth it. I've done my time at file sharing sites so I could access the good stuff and it's no different here. We need to make it difficult to fully get in for 2 reasons, you have to be a fan of the site to make it - so it weeds out most of the assholes who just came by to say 'Stern sucks' and once you get in you sure as hell don't want to get banned and go thru it again so you're more likely to be nice to the show peeps. I know we lose members because of it, but the site has never been so great.
Thirdly, AOL/cookie issues. I can't login. I try to login and then it brings me right back to the login screen.
Between recent AOL changes and us moving to a new server there are lots of people having trouble logging in.
AOLers should just minimize AOL and open internet explorer or firefox to visit SFN.

make sure javascript & cookies are on
be sure to visit SFN thru SternFanNetwork.com
and it couldn't hurt to make SFN a trusted site.

SFN is privately owned versus being on a free BB hoster. This serves them well as they have their own TOS. For people who can afford to become "supporters," there are extra perks re. customized avatars, customized titles, uploading attachments, and PM. All members can enjoy the large photo galleries. If you can last through the initiation, you will eventually get into file sharing and other restricted areas.
*Mutt has some customized coding (the [you] code). It is operational in 2 sections of SFN (Pranks and Ask the Mod**) . Basically, the [you] coded items pull from your profile and display only to the person reading that particular thread (yourself). This would be quickly confirmed if the reader used the button and quoted the person they thought were talking about them (all coding is displayed with the quote button) - but that rarely happens. People panic and think they are being flamed. Some reply. Often, when they view the last page and see that a few posts up, someone else thought the thread was talking about them too, they start catching on. They then review the entire post, noticing dates and other clues. Some never catch on. Some just leave, some email Mutt, and some email Mutt threatening to sue. 
**Ask the Mod forum utilizes an automated response moderator and allows [you] coding. Unless another member or real mod wanders through, you won't learn much there.

Mutt explained to Eric about the [you] code, but he is still upset and has told SFN "Bye for now."

Yeah that code in those prank threads got me the first time I saw it, I think they may send people to those threads as part of the initiation.

Actually, Mutt and Joey swept General Chat out a bit last week... Moved a bunch of the attention seeking posts to "members only chat," and apparently got rid of a lot. If you check "Top Posters" there now, you'll notice post counts went wayyy down (maybe 40k down)... Player 1 was boasting his 100,000 post a few months ago, but not now...

Note that SFN's 30/30/30 rule still applies for certain forums and domain banned persons still won't be able to see.
Here is some advice Ghoulardi gave, but my FireFox detected the download and immediately popped an installation permission request window... I did have to close and restart FireFox for the upgrade to take effect.
