Music Gone to the Dogs: Caninus and others...Howard Stern reviewed Caninus 11/30/06...
| Quote: | | Fronted by two pit bull terriers (no joke!) that were both rescued days before being euthanized, Caninus (pronounced K-9-us) churn out some blistering grind / metalcore which may or may not contain members of the NYHC band Most Precious Blood. Caninus draw their influences from Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Incantation, and Malevolent Creation but still retain enough of their own unique style to keep avid metal fans listening. The band has also gained national glory and approval from celebrities such as Andrew W.K. & Susan Sarandon (what...?). Some tracks included are "Bite The Hand That Breeds You," "Fear Of Dog (Religious Myths)," "Locking Jaws," "No Dogs, No Masters," "New Yorkie Crew." | Howard's discussion here...
Online sample Caninus - Human Rawhide...
Apparently this came out in Oct. 2004, but may be getting a renewed push. Christmas does bring out the "novelty music," after all...
My recommendation? I'm a cat person and not necessarily a heavy metal fan. Try the older (1993) Jingle Cats instead. Although it's seasonal, it's a mix of jazzy & classical.
(These two videos are identical, the YouTube loads faster...)

Other Jingle Cats (& Dogs) samples: Oh my, I'll have to dig my old Jingle cats out of storage..the Little Drummer Boy .wav that's online is much darker than I remember...

pussNbootski, did this strange canine music stir any feelings within you or Timmy? We may have to study this strange music's effects on animals, especially those whose species are typically tormented by the species canis.

They didn't give enough time to the other animal band, Hatebeak. it's a death metal band with a parrot for lead singer. Some of their songs are "Beak of Putrefaction" and "God of Empty Nest".
I have those two songs on my ipod and it kills me every time they come up on randon play.

Also here's a really strange (old) story that involves both Caninus and Hatebeak - but before you call in or start posting angry e-mails - note the date...

Not surprising that Howard likes dog music. He always says he likes it "doggy-syle." Wonder if Howard owns a Jingle Cats or Jingle Dogs CD. There's video of Howard and Beth advocating for animals at an event they recently attended here...

Funny thing about the advert that occasionally appears here about that pet video H and Beth appeared in... Did you notice the wording? | Quote: | Howard Goes to the Dogs
Howard Stern on panting and petting with Beth and "supermodel" Bianca...
www.petstyle.com | Now, if Bianca is the "supermodel," what does that make Beth???
