Late 2003, early 2004... The most memorable stuff from 2004 were:
    the Clear Channel crisis
    2004 April Fool's joke
    2004 Vegas Trip
    Get John's Job Contest

This site turned up on the random Google ad at the top of the forum. Anybody know them? Anyone know Carlos Mencia?

"FCC FU: The Anthem"
LYRICS: (to the tune of
"My Country 'Tis of Thee")

My country used to be
Sweet land of liberty
That once was true
Until the FCC
Chose what we hear and see
On radio and on TV
FCC FU!

When you deny our choice
You censor every voice
That?s what you do
We'd say "go fly a kite"
But that's far too polite
For stealing First Amendment rights
FCC FU!

What makes your ass so tight?
Does the religious Right
Rule over you?
Those few fanatic fools
And your outrageous rules
Kick freedom in the family jewels
FCC FU!

Soon those misguided kooks
Will all be burning books
With help from you
Why be so meddlesome?
Must you assume we're dumb?
What is it you protect us from?
FCC FU!

Are we all so repressed
That one small glimpse of breast
Must be taboo?
One Janet Jackson boob
Botched up what's on the tube
Bend over, we're not using lube
FCC FU!

It's time we take a stand
Shout it through all the land
We can't stand you
And while we fight this fight
We can say with delight
That Howard's gone to satellite
FCC FU!

What I hear, what I see
Please leave that up to me
Not up to you...
If I'm offended, I'll
Just simply turn the dial
And I'll be saying, all the while
FCC FU!

Let me think on the earliest firsthand memories.
Maybe 2003 - 2004 replays of the 9-11 aftermath when they goofed on who left and who didn't.

Maybe replays of the Vietnam ear collecting thing.. Ironically it replayed during 2004 when people were being beheaded on an almost weekly basis.

    April Fools 2004 was fun.

    Vegas 2004 was fun.

    "Get John's Job" was fun.

My first Stern exposure was a per-chance Saturday morning replay on a college station, around '85 or so (the guests were Mick Taylor (Stones) and Mark Farner (GFR)). Howard sang along w/Mick & Mark, and I was blown away by Howard and Robin, having never been exposed to radio humor before that. The college show didn't last long, and I had to wait til the early '90s to get him everyday...

Saw his WOR TV show for as long as it was on. That was interesting...

I've been listening to howard for a Very Long time. Since he came to NY and was broadcasting in the afternoon.

I was told about a "HoWeird" Stern coming to NY from a friend in Baltimore just before he came. My friend rightly figured I'd like that sort of humor.

My first memory is Howard insulting some idiot on the phone and hanging up on him. I thought, "WOW, THAT'S something I've never heard anyone do!!" I was somewhat in shock. But, I needed something else to really become a fan:

Eventually, I heard his mother call in and that's when I realized how brilliant Howard is. He was being the "little child" we all are when we talk to our own parents. but he was ALSO controlling the conversation so that he could be the professional broadcaster. This two-tiered conversation was enlightening and fascinating. And, Ray is so honest and fantastic on the radio!

Did you guys listen to Ben Stern last week? God, is that guy funny! You can say Howard owes his success in large part to his parents. I love them!!

Howard's parents ARE incredible.

And I think EVERYBODY loves them.

Remember when they hosted the two episodes of "Meet The Sterns" — every single caller was polite and respectful — VERY unusual for callers to the Stern Show.

Nobody asked "what's your cup size?" or "how big is your penis?"

The closest to a lack of total respect — and it made me cringe — was a call from Justin Rairden, who wanted to play an "F, Marry Kill" game with Ray.

Oh yeah, I first heard Howard when he was on in Washington. A friend of mine was working in Silver Springs Maryland and I went down to visit him. He picked me up at the airport, snapped on the radio and said, "You gotta take a listen to this guy!"

Who could have dreamed that years later I'd be listening to his show religiously every morning — not only listening but recording and saving EVERY show!
