Didn't know exactly where to post this...- you just knew this would happen eventually considering the animosity between the two shows:
seen on dvrtv:
"...6/16 - From All Access: A Howard Stern fan allegedly grabbed and pushed Opie and Anthony Executive Producer Ben Sparks against a wall during the morning radio duo's daily "walk over" Friday from WFNY, their NYC radio station, to their XM Satellite Radio studio down the street. The fan claimed that Sparks spat at him, a claim denied by Sparks. Once the Stern fan was subdued by O&A's security team, Gregg "Opie" Hughes stuck a microphone in his face and "profanely demanded and received an apology"......".

| But please note, the animousity is misguided fan "loyalty." Stern is not telling his fans to go out in O&A forums and attack O&A - or to venture out in public to attack O&A personally. Stern is moving on, concentrating on making his own show about entertainment. I don't listen to O&A, so cannot testify to what O&A does or doesn't tell their fans. |

This should be kicked to the WGAS forum! |

But remember, even bad publicity tends to work for good for Stern. _________________ Always remember, "Hi, I'm Sal Governale..." |

Probably best for Howard to stay with "keeping it funny" and not be distracted by O&A stuff. |

| Someone sent me a link to an FMQB.com story about it. So stupid these fans who think they're fighting some big battle. They must not realize that these are just a bunch of radio deejays... The guy probably deserved a beating. |

The one thing that makes me think it could be staged is how Opie came back rather quickly about 'stealing Howard's stations' (which by the way isn't actually true; Howard left KROQ, so they were DLR's stations). I've listened to these guys several times and waited to hear them say anything funny and I never heard them utter anything funny, let alone fast and funny.
By the way, not that it couldn't be true, but the guy who did this really sounds like a moron. This guy doesn't come off well at all.
Considering that the O&A have been doing the walk over thing for awhile now, it's hard to imagine why no one ever thought of doing this before. Is anyone listening? They need the publicity way more than Stern - and the media is linking about Sirius streaming Stern right next to this - gotta love that part. If Howard mentions it at all, he'll say the guy's a jerk and urge his fans to help keep it fun and funny - and ignore O&A. |

i've seen bus's with A&O ads on them. I think they say something like, "We're back"
I wanted to write under that,
"and we still suck"
but I was in a car and couldn't do it. _________________ A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves. -- Edward R. Murrow

Howard would most likely read the article about an arrest on-air, disavow the misguided person, then goof on them - and remind his listeners that all negative publicity mentioning generally turns out positive in the end - like reminding listeners and would-be listeners that he's on Sirius.
