Stern used to do more tit-for-tat picking with Savage, but I think Stern caught on that Savage's primary grievance with him was what Savage considers "mis-treatment" of the handicapped and its' just a fundimental difference of opinion that isn't going away in this lifetime. Stern typically doesn't bait people into anger out of spite.

Stern's ex-wife worked with MRs living in group homes and Howard would help her take them on "outings" when they dated (at least that is what was portrayed in "Private Parts). Stern is part of a generation that saw handicapped people retaining their legal rights and living/participating in community settings vs an institution.

The downside of handicapped people who have retained their legal rights is that some will be lured to make choices others won't agree with concerning their own "exploitation" for money or 15 minutes of fame - just like many so-called "normal people."

Savage had a very disabled brother who died young. His generation saw families with such individuals pressured to institutionalize them at an early age. Savage once stated it would be better if events such as Special Olympics weren't publicized - that the disabled did not need to draw attention to themselves. (Badly paraphrased...) When Savage sees the semi-legally abled handicapped who choose to participate in Stern's show - he sees his brother.. ..and he puts stuff like that picture on his website.

I can kind of see the take on O'Reilly. O'Reilly does try too hard to please at times...

A lot of Savage is just schtick anyway. Shades of the outrageous Hendrie - only Savage really does have callers and occasional guests.

Sheesh, Savage Spinner (and a couple of other of you) could have chosen more flattering pictures to post.

Over the years, Howard Stern learned to hone his wit and set a goal to keep radio fun and entertaining. The kind of rant Savage employs doesn't fit. Best to ignore Savage's ignoramous comments about Howard Stern.
