If using an image hosting site (ImageShack, ImageVenue, TinyPic) for hot-linking, please remember:
a. No porn
b. Use the thumbnail if you're provided one
Some of these sites will ban entire forums and domains for abuse of size...
This is what a thumbnail that links to the larger picture would look like...

The avatar galleries here are pretty generous, but you can link to an off site avi... Use good judgement (ie. not sexually explicit)... There are a few female avatars this site offers that stretch limits.

Found this posted at another site... The mother-lode of free hosting sites... I uploaded 60 odd image links in a .zip file to YouSendIt once, so a teeenager I barely knew could incorporate them into several .gifs with his editing program without us having to reveal e-mails (see my signature - that's 30 odd images)... You're absolutely right about minding the size restrictions and using thumbnails... Here's the lonnngggg list:
Hmm.. http://www.esnips.com/signin/index.jsp This site looks interesting, too... 1 GIG would use up pretty quickly for some types of files...
